Always something to do
Centerville has long had a focus on creating and maintaining beautiful recreational areas for our residents. The city boasts three city parks, a large athletic complex bike trail system connecting all three park while also providing a path with views of the beautiful Vermillion River. We welcome our residents and visitors to enjoy each of these facilities.
PEDER LARSON PARK
Camping is open summer to fall by reservation only. (Weather permitting)
Camping is $20 per night and permitted in Peder Larson Park. Please call 605-563-2302 (M-F) or stop in City Hall (741 Main Street) to obtain a permit and pre-pay your stay. Nonregistered campers will be asked to leave.
Electrical hookups are available at the time of your stay.
You may camp in the designated area for up to 14 days. Campers may not spend more than 14 consecutive days of any 30 day period.
Keep a Pack-In Pack-Out camp. Inspect your campsite and rest areas for trash or spilled foods. Pick up all trash, leftover food, and litter.
City Ordinance requires all pets must be leashed, in control, and cleaned up after. Pets are not to be left at campsites unattended. Animal Control will be contacted as needed and owner will be charged accordingly.
GUNDERSON PARK THE “BEACH”
Camping is open from Memorial Day to Labor Day
Camping is free and permitted in Gunderson Park. Please call City Hall to obtain a permit.
You need to be self-contained. No amenities are provided; such as water, restrooms or trash cans.
You may camp in a dispersed area for up to 14 days. Campers may not spend more than 14 consecutive days of any 30 day period.
Please place your campsite at least 100 feet from any stream or other water source.

Contact the City Hall Office to see if any restrictions, especially fire restrictions are in place.

In addition to all the activities and locations listed above, Centerville boasts a great winter season with snowmobile trails, great local sledding hills, ice fishing, and is only 45 minutes from Great Bear Recreational Park and the Outdoor Campus.
